Blue Canoe Cabin - Buffalo National River, Ark.

Blue Canoe Cabin is located in the heart of the Middle Buffalo River area, just steps away from Buffalo National River, near Gilbert, Arkansas, and includes over 20 acres of forest and fields with mountain views, unobstructed night time sky viewing, abundant wildlife, and privacy. This rental is ideal for a smaller family, two couples or a guys or girls weekend as it can sleep up to six people comfortably with one queen bed, one full bed, one sleeper loveseat full bed and one full bathroom.

The cabin has been renovated with the goal of bringing the outdoors in, including striking distant views and a flood of natural light while providing a soothing refuge for comfort and relaxation. Materials used inside include red oak hardwood on the floors and unique beetle kill white pine from the Pacific Northwest on the ceilings. Old growth cypress from a 75+ year old Arkansas barn was salvaged for the custom bathroom cabinet and bedroom barn door. A stained glass window containing glass from a 1930's era country church in Texas provides an unique element. Western red cedar siding and local eastern red cedar posts and shakes are featured on the outside, as well as rescued barn tin from an abandoned Arkansas homestead. Be sure to check out our custom 'star cluster' light on the front porch. You will find thoughtful features like these and artwork throughout the property.

Specific property features include -

1/4 mile maintained gravel driveway with access directly off the paved highway. Property is behind a locked gate to provide privacy.

There is no wi-fi service. However, cell phone reception is generally excellent for using your own data.

Sleeps up to six comfortably. One queen bed, one full bed, one sleeper loveseat full bed. Additionally, a couch downstairs will sleep one adult and a padded window bench seat in the loft will sleep one adult. All linens are provided.

Spacious kitchen fully stocked with appliances, utensils, dishes, pots/pans and silverware. Appliances include full-sized refrigerator, gas stovetop/oven, microwave, sink disposal, air fryer, immersion blender, dripcoffee maker and a Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods. Beverage bar with wine and beer glasses. We keep the kitchen stocked with some food items, including - coffee, tea, hot chocolate mix, sugar, flour, rice, condiments, microwave popcorn and s'mores materials. Paper towels, foil, plastic wrap, storage bags and trash bags are also provided. Note - there is no dishwasher so dishes need to be washed by hand. Dish soap provided. Table for eating with four chairs.

Family room with seating for five - two chairs and a large couch. Smart TV and blu-ray DVD player with DVD collection. Radio/Stereo. XBox 360 with game collection. Ceiling fan. Oversized windows allowing mountain views, roll down blinds.

Private bathroom with walk-in, low profile shower basin and grab bars. Rainfall shower head and custom tile in the shower. ADA toilet, sink with storage cabinets for towels and toiletry items. Stacked washer/dryer combo with laundry soap provided. Other amenities provided include items such as shampoo, body soap, lotion, bug spray, sunscreen, extra toiletries. Towel sets provided.

Large sleeping loft contains one queen bed with luxury mattress and a seating area with a sleeper loveseat (full). A long (9 feet!) padded window seat provides a great place for reading, bird watching or napping in the sun with expansive views of the surrounding yard and woods. There is a smart TV and blu-ray DVD player upstairs as well. Windows provide treehouse views in all directions. Bed placement allows unobstructed mountain and starry night sky views through the 9' wide wall of windows while laying in bed. Ceiling fan. Air purifier. Blackout thermal control curtains. Independent heat/air unit. Bed linens provided.

AC and central heating throughout with three separate units for individual control - living room, loft, bedroom.

Collection of fiction, non-fiction and local interest books, including hiking and Buffalo River travel guides.

Outside Features

Large northwestern facing covered front deck with counter height table and chairs for eating as well as a rocking chair and a zero gravity chaise lounger for taking in sunset and starry nighttime views. Deck has a 'breakfast bar' with two stools which is a great spot for a meal, drinks or working on a laptop while viewing forest and hills. Multiple electrical outlets. Pulldown bamboo shades for protection from afternoon sun. There are two ceiling fans and lighting for nighttime use.

Screened in back porch with seating and sunrise and woodland views. Ceiling fan.

Covered 16'x20' pavilion with wood pellet electric grill and six foot long picnic table with benches for meals outdoors. Space for hammocks and lounging. Mountain and forest views.

Twenty plus acres for nature walks, wildlife viewing and privacy. Seasonal creek and spring-fed pond.

Unobstructed sky views for nighttime star viewing. Buffalo National River is classified as Bortle Scale 2 rating and is an international dark sky park, allowing spectacular nighttime views of stars, planets, Milky Way, satellites, etc. There is a tabletop telescope available for use.
